Materials

US size 1 circular needle (16 inch), US size 8 circular needle (16 inch), US size 5 DPN

(or sizes needed to obtain gauge)

one skein Zen Yarn Garden Bamboolicious in Fuzzy Navel, (0r other sockyarn in similar weight)

Gauge

in K1tbl (knit 1 through the back loop), P1 rib slightly stretched

5 sts= 1 inch

Size

fits average sized women's head (21-22 inches)

To adjust size, cast on more or less stitches

Stitch Pattern

Pattern

I did not have the proper length of needle in a size one, so I knit the ribbing flat and joined it at the lace pattern. I then sewed the ribbing when I had finished the rest of the hat. This is a fast knit, it only took me a couple of hours.

RIBBING

Using size 1 circular needle, cast on 120 sts, place marker, and join (being careful not to twist the stitches). Knit in K1tbl, P1 ribbing until piece measures1 1/2 inches or desired length.

BODY

Switch to size 8 needle and knit one round.

Knit one round in Stitch Pattern, and continue to alternate between a knit round and a stitch pattern round until piece measures 6 inches or desired length.

CROWN

K2tog around the next row, switching to size 5 DPN's

K one round, and continue to alternate a round of knitting and a round of K2tog until you are left with 8 sts.

Break yarn and pull through the last 8 sts.

FINISHING

Weave in ends, block lightly if desired.
